Hi, George. I'm Mrs. Clark and I've been teaching now for two years but only one year teaching Science in the middle school. I went back to school after my children got out of elementary school; therefore, it seemed to take me a very long time getting my teaching degree. You will need to take four years of classes, including Math, Reading, and several Science classes (which I think was a lot of fun)!

Hello, my name is Megan Baird. I am a teacher at Cottonwood and have taught for 11 years. I decided to be a teacher when I was a senior in high school when I went into classrooms to observe teachers for a class. I enjoyed helping the teachers and knew I wanted to become one. I then attended Hutchinson Community College for two years and finished my schooling at K-State. I went to college a total of four years and then student taught. I was a substitue for half a year and then was hired at Whittier to be a second grade teacher. I switched to fourth grade after two years and still love it!! I am glad to hear you are all interested in becoming teachers, good for you!

Hi Maria. I have been a teacher for 7 years. I currently teach kindergarten. To become a teacher I had to take college classes for 3 1/2 years and practice teach for 1/2 of a year. It was a lot of fun learning how to work with the kids and learning everything I need to teach. Good luck with your studies!

Teachers use decimals, fractions, and percents in several ways. First, when we grade, we have to convert everything to percentages from fractions. We also have to do many, many data sheets of student test scores that we convert to percentages. We use decimals when we teach about money. There are so many ways that teachers use decimals and percents...I bet you can think of some as well!!!
